BACKGROUND:
On July 1, 2008, Council adopted Ordinance 5865, appointing an eleven-member board as the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) to recommend monetary and non-monetary incentives for the affordable housing incentive plan as required in Section 420.9076 F.S.
As per Section 106-137(c) of the amending Ordinance 5865, City Council shall appoint members to the committee by resolution. This section was amended December 18, 2018, by Ordinance 2019-13 to reduce the minimum number of AHAC members from eleven to eight.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
The State requires that there be an active AHAC composed of at least eight individuals from various backgrounds. The City's AHAC meets and brings recommendations to the City Council on ways to reduce or eliminate impediments to affordable housing. Jeff Hill applied as a citizen who is actively engaged in the banking or mortgage industry in connection with affordable housing.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The City is unable to receive SHIP funding without an approved Affordable Housing Advisory Committee.
