BACKGROUND:  On November 15, 2016, City Council adopted Resolution 2017-13 to establish the new Brownfields Advisory Committee.  Eleven members were appointed, including one member of the City Council to serve as a liaison and a voting member if a vacancy occurs on the board.  The board was subsequently reduced to nine members in 2022, including one member of the City Council to serve as a liaison and to maintain a consistent quorum. Staff received an application for a vacant position. City Council can accept or deny the application by Ms. Antoinette Hunt to an unexpired four-year term ending on March 1, 2027.

The purpose of the advisory committee is to promote and receive comments on the identification, rehabilitation, and redevelopment of brownfields within the city.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:  Members of the Brownfields Advisory Committee are members of boards, committees, and organizations within Ocala. Brownfields Advisory Committee members shall serve four-year terms and may be reappointed. Ms. Hunt is a member of the West Ocala Community Redevelopment Advisory Board. The application to serve on the Committee was received on April 19, 2023, and is attached to the staff report.  Currently, there are eight member positions plus one City Council liaison on the Committee, including one vacant position. Approval of this position will result in a full complement of committee members.
