BACKGROUND:
Ocala Electric Utilities employs articulating telescopic bucket trucks to safely and efficiently maintain its electric power distribution system. The Altec AT48M 4x4, a specialized two-person bucket truck, is designed for all-terrain operation. It offers a 52.5-foot working height, making it versatile for maintenance, construction, and emergency power restoration projects.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
Unit #22-494, a 2011 International 4x4 bucket truck, has reached the end of its useful life after 14 years of service, accumulating 151,220 miles and experiencing significant operational degradation. Fleet Management has determined that the unit has exceeded its useful life. It is recommended that it be replaced with a 2025 Altec AT48M 4x4 bucket truck to be acquired through Global Rental Co, Inc.
As a political subdivision of the State of Florida, the City of Ocala qualifies as an eligible user of Sourcewell cooperative purchasing agreements to procure commodities and services. The 2025 Altec AT48M 4x4 bucket truck will be purchased utilizing Sourcewell Agreement No. 040924-ALT with Global Rental Co., Inc. These commodities were competitively solicited by Sourcewell, a Minnesota agency and service cooperative, and the solicitation documents have been evaluated and determined by the City's Procurement and Contracting Department to be cost-effective and to afford best value.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This agenda item is accompanied by a budget resolution seeking to appropriate the necessary funds. For this purchase, these funds will be allocated to account 457-032-602-531-66-64010-Electric M...
