BACKGROUND:
Boom cranes are essential tools for lifting and moving heavy loads. Their extendable booms allow them to reach difficult positions, making them ideal for removing and servicing heavy well pumps and motors. A 20-ton boom crane will significantly improve efficiency and safety by providing a reliable solution for handling heavy loads.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
The Water Resources department's current crane, which is 24 years old and rated for eight tons, has surpassed its operational lifespan and is inadequate for current workload requirements. Upgrading to a new crane will significantly reduce downtime, minimize maintenance costs, and enhance overall productivity.
On November 18, 2024, Fleet Management was granted a procurement exception to piggyback City of Tallahassee Contract No. 5073 for the provision of municipal construction and utility equipment through March 31, 2026. The City of Tallahassee competitively solicited these goods and services under RFP No. RFP-130-20-KM. Multiple vendors responded to the solicitation and on December 7, 2020, a contract award was made to Ring Power Corporation. The contract was awarded for an initial term of five years from April 1, 2021, through March 31, 2025, with one five-year extension. Ring Power Corporation has agreed to extend pricing and services to the City of Ocala under the same terms and conditions as Contract No. 5073.
Staff recommends purchasing one National 671E2, 20-ton stand-up crane from Ring Power Corporation.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this purchase is encumbered in the Fiscal Year 2024-25 account #455-0...
