BACKGROUND:

On April 4, 2017, City Council approved a three-year agreement, Contract No.:  TEL/17-141 (“the Agreement”) with four (4) one-year renewal options to sell fiber optic connectivity to the School Board of Marion County (“the School Board”) for metropolitan locations throughout Marion County. The School Board has requested to renew the Agreement for the third of four available one-year renewal options, which includes a 2% annual reduction of the original contract amount of $1,290,000. The renewal period will begin on July 1, 2023, and terminate on June 30, 2024. 

 

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

This renewal agreement between Ocala Fiber Network and the School Board of Marion County will continue to provide fiber optic interconnectivity to their schools located throughout the Marion County area and the School Board's data center. 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The expected gross revenue from this agreement is $101,178 per month totaling $1,214,139 over a one-year period. The revenue is included in the FY23 and FY24 budgets in account 490-343-000-000-02-34914.

 

PROCUREMENT REVIEW:

These services were procured, and this agreement reviewed, in compliance with the City’s Procurement Policy.

This renewal agreement will be reviewed and approved for form and legality by City Attorney, William E. Sexton.
