BACKGROUND:
On March 30, 2020, the City of Ocala and Junior League of Ocala, Florida, Inc. ("Junior League") entered into a sponsorship agreement wherein Junior League agreed to commit $40,000 in sponsorship funding for the development of an indoor playground at the new Mary Sue Rich Community Center at Reed Place over the course of four years.
In its June 16, 2015 sponsorship agreement with the City, Junior League committed $40,000 in sponsorship funding for the development of a pavilion at Scott Springs Park and play equipment at three (3) additional Ocala neighborhood parks. With this funding the City was able to develop a family pavilion at Scott Springs Park, install play equipment at Marimere Park, and replace the playground at Fisher Park. $10,000 in funding remains under the 2015 Sponsorship Agreement and the Junior League and the City have agreed to apply those funds to the development of the indoor playground at the Mary Sue Rich Community Center, bringing Junior League's total contribution for the project to $50,000.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
* The Junior League of Ocala, Florida is committed to providing $50,000 in sponsorship funding by September 30, 2023 which includes $10,000 remaining from its June 16, 2015 Sponsorship Agreement.
* Public-private partnerships provide for a shared investment in community resources that benefit the City of Ocala residents.
