BACKGROUND: Mark’s Prime Steakhouse has had an active valet license since 2009, with the current ownership (Ocala Prime Partners Holdings LLC) taking over in 2022. Since its inception, the operators have only provided valet service to Mark’s Prime Steakhouse customers. As Section 22-425 requires, the City Council renews the license annually.
The restaurant utilizes approximately 110 feet along SW Broadway Street west of South Magnolia Avenue for its ramping area (zone for loading and unloading vehicle passengers). Before 5 p.m., the area is signed as a loading zone used by multiple businesses.
In 2022, the City Council approved a new location at 11 SW Second Avenue to park the vehicles once they leave the ramping zone. This privately operated parking lot has 18 available parking spaces and is conveniently located near the restaurant. There are no proposed changes to the ownership, hours of operation (daily, 5 to 10 p.m.), the parking lot, or the ramping area on SW Broadway Street.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS: The owners of Mark’s Prime Steakhouse recognize the valet requirements, pursuant to Sec. 22-431 of the City of Ocala Municipal Code.
