BACKGROUND:
On 09/20/24, the Ocala Police Department was advised that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) State Safety Office was selected to receive funding for overtime reimbursement funding for the Speed and Aggressive Driving Program in the amount of $55,000, to be utilized by 09/30/2025, to provide reimbursement for overtime worked by Ocala sworn law enforcement officers.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
The Ocala Police Department will conduct targeted speed enforcement efforts, monthly enforcement to reduce traffic violations, and motor saturation enforcement in known problem and high-collision areas.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The City will receive $55,000 in grant funding to assist the Police Department with this program. No match is required; however, the City shall absorb any additional benefit costs. Funds will be housed in account 001-050-880-521-52-14010. All other benefits/residual funds, to be absorbed by the City, will be taken or charged to the home account 001-018-830-521-52-21010, 001-018-830-521-52-22029, 001-018-830-521-52-23010, and 001-018-830-521-52-24010, MUNIS Contract #250024.
