BACKGROUND:
The attached Reimbursable Agreement addresses a grading issue with Runway 36's runway safety area. Due to a steep drop-off in terrain directly south of the runway's approach, regrading is necessary to meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) safety standards. This regrading project will impact the existing approach lighting infrastructure the FAA manages.
The FAA Eastern Service Area, NAVAIDS Engineering Center has reviewed the project scope and drafted the Reimbursable Agreement. This agreement outlines the costs that the City must pre-pay to the FAA for the required work on the lighting system, ensuring that the grading project can proceed. The FAA determines the cost, and the City plans to seek FAA discretionary grant funding later this year to cover these expenses when the grant application window opens.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
* The FAA Eastern Service Area, NAVAIDS Engineering Center, drafted the reimbursable agreement after reviewing the project scope.
* The FAA sets the dollar amount.
* Funding is available within the Airport budget.
* The City will request FAA discretionary grant funding later this year once the grant application window opens.
