BACKGROUND:
On August 6, 2024, the City issued a request for proposals from professional design-build teams to provide conceptual designs, final design, construction documents, and construction services for the construction of Fire Station No. 8. This station will be similar in architecture, construction, and general appearance as Fire Station No. 7, with the addition of a 10,000-gallon fuel island.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
On September 11, 2024, the City received three qualified and responsive proposals. A selection committee met to review the proposals for qualifications, availability, experience, and price.

Dinkins Construction, LLC presented the committee with the desired aesthetics, construction, and price that the City sought. Therefore, the committee recommended an award to Dinkins Construction, LLC.

The Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for Fire Station No. 8 is $4,213,901. Staff recommends approval of the award of the contract for the GMP, including a 10 percent contingency of $421,390.10, to allow the City Engineer to approve change orders for unknown conditions or other issues that might arise during the design and construction of the project.
Funding is also needed for a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment in the amount of $12,500.

Fire Station No.8 is projected to be completed in August 2026.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this project is available in the following account strings:
092-019-907-522-69-65010 $1,000,000
