BACKGROUND:
The Recreation Commission advises the City Council on matters relating to parks and recreation. The Recreation Commission consists of seven members who the Council appoints for a term of three years. A majority of the members of the Recreation Commission shall be citizens of the city.
There are currently two vacancies on the Recreation Commission, pending the approval of the removal of board member Reinaldo Mercado on this agenda’s Consent Agenda. Katherine MacKay, Lisa Sprung and Bob Witter have submitted their applications for consideration for appointment to the Commission. Council is requested to vote for two applicants to serve the remainder of two terms: a three-year term that began March 1, 2024, and will end March 1, 2027, and a three-year term that began March 1, 2025, and will end March 1, 2028.
Should the Consent Agenda item be denied, the term to be filled at this meeting will be March 1, 2025 to March 1, 2028.
