BACKGROUND:
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recommends an airport master plan be updated once every 10 years, or after significant changes or improvements to the facility occur. In the case of the Ocala Airport, the last master plan update occurred in 2014. During the subsequent 10 years, the new general aviation terminal was constructed, private hangar development increased dramatically; total based aircraft increased to 197, to include 20 jets; several non-aviation properties were sold; and many others have been released by the FAA for future sales.
