BACKGROUND:
The Ocala Police Information Technology (IT) Department utilizes backup software and storage on a daily basis. The hardware component of the backup infrastructure is nearing the end of its service life and will soon require support. This infrastructure is used in several ways. It aids in data retention and provides backup copies of files and systems in case of failure. It assists with resiliency by providing a resource to restore systems in the event of cyber incidents. Backup storage is a vital component of the department's disaster recovery and continuity planning. The current storage was purchased in August of 2021.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
The Ocala Police IT Department is requesting approval to replace this storage infrastructure, ensuring continued equipment under service and support, and to leverage new tools to aid in the recovery process in the event of need. This new system features administrative controls and security tools to assist with data recovery and to prevent data deletion.
