BACKGROUND:
On July 31, 2024, the City issued Invitation to Bid No. AIR/240876 for the provision of traffic control backup weather equipment. The solicitation closed on August 19, 2024, with a single bid being received from Wolen, LLC.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
• Existing backup weather equipment site no longer meets FAA siting criteria, has failed, and requires replacement.
• New backup weather site is located adjacent the primary weather instruments.
• The contract includes an additional $950 over the bid amount for the installation of an outdoor unlimited power source (UPS).
• Funding for this project is provided through a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) grant, matched by the Airport. The City Council approved this funding at its meeting on May 6, 2025.
• The Airport Advisory Board has expressed its support for this project.
