BACKGROUND:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is designing a resurfacing project along the State Road 464 (SE 17th Street) corridor from US 441 (Pine Avenue) to US Highway 35 (Baseline Road). The City of Ocala has water and sewer utilities within the project limits in the FDOT right-of-way that need to be relocated and/or adjusted and, specifically, an 18-inch sewer force main needs to be replaced due to deterioration. This replacement needs to be completed prior to FDOT's resurfacing project scheduled for February 2023.

FDOT requires an extensive traffic management plan for the project and the City Engineering Department does not have the staffing resources available to complete the complex traffic management plan. Kimley-Horn is an awarded engineering firm for continuing professional services with the City of Ocala, LOI# 190603, and can provide the specialized expertise for the design of the traffic management plan for the project.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
Kimley-Horn's engineering staff will work in conjunction with the City of Ocala Engineering Department to complete the project design for the necessary adjustment and relocation of the sewer force main. City of Ocala Engineering will design the utility plan and Kimley-Horn will design the traffic management plan in accordance with FDOT's standards and requirements.

Staff recommends approval.

FISCAL IMPACT:
This project has an estimated total cost of $76,949 and funds are available in fiscal year 2022 in account 455-020-302-536-53-31010.
