BACKGROUND:

The Ocala Municipal Arts Commission (OMAC) serves in an advisory capacity to the City government regarding the city's artistic and cultural development and the aesthetic aspects of city activities. City officials, officers, and City department staff may consult with the Commission from time to time on matters within the scope of this division. The Commission shall advise and consult with officials, officers, and staff of City departments regarding the City's artistic and cultural development and the aesthetic aspects of its activities.

 

OMAC consists of eleven members, appointed by City Council based on experience and interest in the cultural arts, and includes representatives from the College of Central Florida’s Visual and Performing Arts Department, Fine Arts for Ocala, Marion County School Board, Marion Cultural Alliance, Ocala Civic Theater, and the Ocala Symphony Orchestra. 

 

The term for current board member Jean Floten expires on March 1, 2026.  She has submitted her application for reappointment to the Commission.
