BACKGROUND:

The Water Resources Department utilizes industrial vacuum trucks to perform hydro excavation, high-pressure water jetting, and cleaning operations on sewer, catch basin, and stormwater systems.

On August 20, 2024, the City Council authorized the purchase of a 2024 PipeHunter sewer cleaner for $350,490. To ensure this specialized equipment's optimal performance and longevity, Fleet recommends procuring a repair and maintenance contract from an authorized warranty and service provider.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

A repair and maintenance contract will ensure cost-effective repairs, minimize equipment downtime, and extend warranty coverage.  The maintenance agreement with Texas Underground, Inc., for a PipeHunter sewer cleaner is $13,000 annually over five years, totaling $65,000. Fleet staff recommends approval of the maintenance agreement with Texas Underground, Inc.
