BACKGROUND:
On January 29, 2024, the Ocala Police Department (OPD) was notified that the JAG22-Countywide Residual allocated $51,620 in grant funds to fund the OPD Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) project. Funding will allow OPD to purchase operating equipment for the RTCC.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
OPD will utilize the funds to purchase operating equipment for the RTCC. This grant will provide computer equipment with peripherals including a projector and web camera along with office and conference room furnishings.
Equipment included in the RTCC provides the ability to analyze crimes, preserve evidence of criminal behavior, and provide investigators with valuable resources to identify person(s) of interest and increase the likelihood of solving crimes.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The $51,620 award will purchase equipment to support the overall efficacy of the OPD RTCC project. No match required. Funds will be housed in account # 001-050-864-521-52-52010.
