BACKGROUND:
The Firefighter’s Retirement System Board of Trustees consists of five persons: two firefighters elected by the firefighter members of the plan; two trustees as residents of the City appointed by City Council; the fifth member chosen by a majority of the other four members of the Board and appointed by City Council as a ministerial act.
John Dozier is a current member of the Firefighters’ Retirement System Board of Trustees as a City resident. His term ends on October 4, 2025, and he has reapplied for a new two-year term, ending on October 4, 2027. There were no other applicants.
The vacancy was advertised on the City of Ocala’s website.
