BACKGROUND:
When vehicles collide in a way that entrap the occupants, extrication tools are the only way to extricate the occupants from the inside, under or in between the vehicles. Extrication equipment/tools are an invaluable asset that perform a function that cannot be performed by any other means without sacrificing large amounts of time. Often the trapped occupants are in dire need of life saving medical attention that cannot begin until they are free of entrapment.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
The purchase of this equipment will improve extrication speed and efficiency of Ocala Fire Rescue.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Fire Rescue was approved for $69,155 Fiscal Year 2021-2022 through the annual budget. An additional $4,837 is required to fund the purchase. These funds will be transferred from the Infrastructure Sales Surtax Reserve account to account number 120-019-910-522-66-64010.
PROCUREMENT REVIEW:
This has been reviewed and approved by procurement and meets the City's policies.
