BACKGROUND:
Ocala Fire Rescue budgets approximately $60,000 annually for emergency medical supplies. On December 15, 2022, the City issued Invitation to Bid No. OFR/220860 for the provision of emergency medical supplies. On March 7, 2023, the City Council approved the award of contracts to Bound Tree Medical, LLC, Henry Schein, Inc., and Life Assist, Inc., for the provision of emergency medical supplies for two-year terms, expiring on March 6, 2026.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
To ensure that the City receives the most timely and affordable emergency medical supply service possible, Bound Tree, Life Assist, and Henry Schein were contacted and agreed to exercise the one-year renewal option.
Due to rising costs associated with labor, logistics, transportation, raw materials, shipping, and tariffs experienced by product manufacturers, all three distributors have experienced increased overhead expenses and have had to pass those increases along to the City of Ocala. Accordingly, Ocala Fire Rescue anticipates a 25% increase in aggregate expenditures during this renewal term.
