BACKGROUND:
Facilities staff has identified the need to install a fire station slide at Fire Station #6 to enhance firefighter response times and provide a safe, efficient transition from the living quarters to the apparatus bay during emergency calls.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
On July 28, 2026, the City issued Invitation to Bid (ITB) FAC/260961 for the purchase and installation of a slide at Fire Station Number Six. One bid was received from J.C.I. Stanford and Son, Inc. Following review, the bidder was determined to be both responsive and responsible. Staff has bench-marked this bid and found the cost to be competitive.
The proposed slide installation at Fire Station Six will provide personnel with a safe, efficient way to access the apparatus bay when responding to emergency incidents. The project includes purchasing and installing the slide, along with all associated work required to complete the installation.
Staff recommends approving the purchase and installation of a slide at Fire Station Six, at a cost not to exceed $61,500.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for this project is encumbered in account 001-019-601-522-52-46010 - OFR Facilities Repair and Maintenance.
PROCUREMENT REVIEW:
These services were procured in compliance with the City’s procurement policy.
LEGAL REVIEW:
This Agreement will be reviewed and approved for form and legality by City Attorney, William E. Sexton.
