OCALA’S RELEVANT STRATEGIC GOALS:

Operational Excellence.

body

BACKGROUND:

In 2010 the Environmental Protection Agency required diesel engines to reduce their production of nitrogen oxides.  This reduction is accomplished by injecting diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) into the exhaust systems of diesel vehicles to break down harmful pollutants into non-hazardous nitrogen and water.  The City’s fleet consumes approximately 9,000 gallons of DEF annually in diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

On December 16, 2022, the City issued a request for quotation (RFQ) FLT/230029 for bulk DEF.  Two firms responded to the solicitation.  Palmdale Oil Company, Inc. was found to be the lowest and most responsible bidder.  Palmdale Oil Company, Inc. meets the City’s requirements and staff recommends award.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Bulk fuel is purchased on inventory utilizing account 001-202-000-000-21-20251 (Bulk Fuel-City Inventory) and is expensed to user departments.
