BACKGROUND: On October 19, 2021, the City Council approved a three-year agreement, with two one-year renewals, with Kimley-Horn and Associates to provide professional transit-related design services supporting the operation of SunTran. The services include the construction of multiple bus shelter/bench locations, a kiosk/lavatory facility at the Union Train Station (SunTran transfer station), and improvements to the SunTran Administrative/Maintenance Facility.

Staff requests to extend the Original Agreement for the first one-year renewal term from October 19, 2024, to October 18, 2025. If renewed, staff will submit task work orders for Kimley-Horn to provide construction management services for the shelters and the kiosk facility. Currently, staff is working on the bids for both projects.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS: Kimley-Horn has demonstrated its capability by successfully completing the design and permitting for the bus shelters, the kiosk, and the SunTran building in 2024. Their continued involvement will ensure the successful construction of the shelters and kiosk projects, providing a reliable and proven partner for the city's transit needs.

FISCAL IMPACT: The funding for future services shall not exceed $90,000. A task order will not be submitted for approval until the financing is secured by a Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grant, matched with state toll revenue credits, ensuring that we have the necessary funds before proceeding with the project.
