body
BACKGROUND:
Since 2003, the City of Ocala has permitted Marion County Public Schools high school swim teams to practice and host swim meets at the Jervey Gantt Aquatic Fun Center and Hampton Aquatic Fun Center.

Practices and swimming meets are scheduled five days a week, from 3 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., except when they conflict with City programming. Marion County Public Schools will pay the City $160 daily, $60 for facility use and $100 for lifeguard services.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
Marion County Public Schools has requested the use of the Aquatic Fun Centers for high school swim team activities. This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) ensures quality facilities remain accessible to students throughout the 2025-2026 school year. The City of Ocala will invoice Marion County Public Schools no more than once a month for swim team use of the aquatic centers. Marion County Public Schools is required to pay all invoices in full within 30 calendar days of the invoice date.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Revenues generated from this MOU will not exceed $9,000, with the final amount contingent on the total days of facility usage. Revenue will be applied to the Recreation and Parks revenue account number: General Fund Rent-Recreation Centers (non-taxable) 001-362-000-000-02-36170 and will help offset aquatic center operating costs.
