BACKGROUND:
The Water Resources Department (the "Department") currently operates and maintains approximately 151 lift stations throughout the city. Due to the city's varying elevations, achieving a fully gravity-based wastewater collection system is not feasible. Lift stations are strategically located to facilitate the movement of wastewater from the collection system to the treatment facilities.
To ensure consistency and reliability, the Department has standardized Grundfos submersible pumps for its lift station operations. The oldest of these pumps was installed in June 2000. The pumps range in size from two to 137 horsepower, with approximately 70-75 percent of all submersible pumps in the system being Grundfos models.
On November 1, 2022, the City issued Request for Information (RFI) No. 230008 in connection with Sole Source Posting (SSP) No. 192 for Grundfos wastewater utility products. In accordance with ?120.57(3), Florida Statutes, SSP No. 192 was publicly advertised for 15 business days and closed on November 22, 2022, yielding no protests from other vendors.
Grundfos wastewater utility products, including pumps, are proprietary and FJ Nugent and Associates, Inc. is the exclusive authorized distributor of Grundfos wastewater products in our region.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
