BACKGROUND:
Ocala Electric Utility is currently working on standardizing all substations with R-Mag circuit breakers. ABB Inc. is the only manufacturer that supplies the magnetic actuator (R-Mag) circuit breakers. These breakers require no maintenance on the magnetic actuator, as opposed to our existing spring-charged mechanisms that are dependent on periodic maintenance to ensure proper operation.
As part of the upgrade, this purchase will consist of five R-Mag circuit breakers, one control panel, and four circuit breakers that will be installed in our Dearmin Substation, and one R-Mag circuit breaker that will be a spare. All equipment is made in the USA.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
Ocala Electric Utility is requesting approval of the purchase of five R-Mag circuit breakers, and one control panel.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds are budgeted for FY22 account# 332-032-167-531-69-65010.
PROCUREMENT REVIEW:
This purchase has been reviewed and approved for compliance with the City’s procurement policy.
