BACKGROUND:
The City of Ocala is a participating jurisdiction with Marion County as a member of the Marion County HOME Consortium and receives an annual allocation of HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME) funds to be used for creating and sustaining affordable housing units, assisting first time home buyers, and other eligible housing activities to assist low-to moderate income level households in the City of Ocala. The funds are governed by the U.S. Housing and Urban Development guidelines including encumbrance and expenditure deadlines.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
An award letter was received on June 4, 2021 from the Marion County Board of County Commissioners acknowledging the City's funding for the 2021-2022 fiscal year in the amount of $270,000. On or about February 3, 2022, the City was verbally notified by the Marion County Director of Community Services that the Fiscal Year 2022 HOME grant was available for use. This award shall be expended by September 30, 2023.
