BACKGROUND:  Former Assistant City Attorney Jimmy Gooding is requesting approval from City Council to represent the owner of the Grand Oaks property located at the intersection of SW 42nd Street and SW 27th Avenue concerning potential changes to the property. Mr. Gooding had previously worked with staff on a zoning change and a Chapter 163 Development Agreement. At the time, Steve Gray was the attorney who submitted the rezoning and drafted the agreement for the property owner.

 

The Grand Oaks Planned Development (PD) includes the existing shopping center (Publix) at the intersection and the approximately 45 vacant acres of mostly multi-family residential. Any potential changes will not impact the existing shopping center.        

 

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:  The Planning Director and the Growth Management Director have no concerns with Mr. Gooding representing the property owner in the future.
