BACKGROUND:
The Police Trust and Agency Fund was created to deposit revenues received from federal, criminal, administrative, or civil forfeiture proceedings.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
The acquisition of a specialized single-purpose K9 with explosive detection capabilities will enhance community safety by conducting general open-air sniffs, protective sweeps of critical infrastructure, protective sniffs at special events, and sniffs for explosive materials associated with criminal activity.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The transfer of $15,800 to account 610-018-808-521-68-67010 (Collections/Other Fixed Asset) will fund the purchase of a single-purpose explosive detection K9.

A RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE FISCAL YEAR 2025-26 BUDGET TO TRANSFER FUNDS FROM THE POLICE TRUST AND AGENCY FUND RESERVE FOR THE PURCHASE OF A SINGLE-PURPOSE K9 IN THE AMOUNT OF $15,800

WHEREAS, the designated account in the Police Trust and Agency Fund was created to deposit revenues received from federal, criminal, administrative, or civil forfeiture proceedings; and

WHEREAS, the Ocala Police Department requires specialized equipment and tools to enhance operational efficiency and better serve the community; and

WHEREAS, the utilization of $15,800 in funds will enhance both public and police safety through the acquisition of a specialized single-purpose explosives detection K9.
