BACKGROUND:
On September 20, 2024, the Ocala Police Department (OPD) was informed that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) approved the Fiscal Year 2024 Motorcycle Safety Program funding opportunity in the amount of $25,000 to be utilized by September 30, 2025. The funding will provide reimbursement for overtime worked by OPD sworn law enforcement officers.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
To reduce traffic violations, the Ocala Police Department will conduct high-visibility speed enforcement and motor saturation enforcement in known problem and high-collision areas.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Grant funding will be utilized for overtime for sworn police officers to conduct high-visibility speed enforcement and motor saturation enforcement operations. Funds will be housed in account 001-334-000-000-09-33166, General Fund-FDOT Safety Grants, MUNIS Contract# 250023.
