BACKGROUND:
The Water Resources Department (the "Department") currently operates and maintains approximately 151 lift stations. Due to Ocala's varied topography, a fully gravity-based wastewater collection system is not feasible. Lift stations (LS) are strategically located to assist in transporting collected wastewater within our system to wastewater treatment facilities.

ShinMaywa pumps are used on special applications (10 HP and below) where it is not feasible to use Grundfos or Sulzer pumps. Some locations currently operating with ShinMaywa pumps are LS011, LS013, LS028, LS034, LS36, LS42, LS077, and LS148.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
On July 31, 2023, the City advertised Sole Source Posting (SSP) No. SSP-210 to verify that Power and Pumps, Inc. was the exclusive distributor for ShinMaywa (America), Ltd., in Florida. SSP-210 was advertised for a period of 15 business days as required by section 120.57(3), Florida Statutes, and closed on August 23, 2023. There were no objections from any other vendors.
ShinMaywa-brand pumps were formally standardized by Procurement on October 16, 2023. Standardizing ShinMaywa pumps limits the number of tested pumps and brands in our system, enhancing performance, maintenance, and technician familiarity.
