BACKGROUND:

The City of Ocala and William Sexton are parties to an employment agreement that expires on October 31, 2026.  Pursuant to the Code of Ordinances City of Ocala Florida, Article V, Division 2, Section 5.03, there shall be a city attorney of the City, appointed by the City Council as provided in Section 2.17 of this charter, who shall serve as chief legal advisor to the council, the manager, and all departments, offices and agencies, shall represent the City in all legal proceedings, and shall perform any other duties prescribed by this charter or by ordinance.  In addition to the appointment requirement, the parties desire to formalize the rights and responsibilities of each by entering into an employment agreement.

 

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

Request approval of the employment agreement between the City of Ocala and City Attorney, William Sexton.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funds are budgeted in the City Attorney's budget (001-012-217-514-51*) for Fiscal Year 2026-27.
