BACKGROUND:
Ocala Electric Utility (OEU) has an ongoing need for contracted underground boring services to install electrical conduit. In addition to installing new underground primary and secondary cables, the City's contractors also replace failing cables and provide underground directional boring services for installing new conduit systems.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
On February 7, 2023, the City Council approved the award of a two-year contract (ELE/220774) to Bellmore Enterprises, Inc., for the provision of underground boring and conduit installation services with an aggregate expenditure threshold of $1,000,000. The initial contract term would run through February 7, 2025. Thereafter, the contract provided the option for two additional one-year renewal terms. OEU is satisfied with the level of service being provided by Bellmore Enterprises, Inc. and desires to exercise the first one-year renewal option.
Since contract inception, expenditures under ELE/220774 have totaled $841,825. Staff estimates an additional $2,000,000 to cover projects through the end of the initial contract term and one-year renewal term. OEU anticipates completing Fiscal Year 2024-25 CIP direct-buried cable replacements and other projects during the first renewal term, increasing the contract value for ELE/220774 to $3,000,000.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for boring services is included in individual projects and impacts multiple accounts in the Fiscal Year 2023-24 budget and the projected Fiscal Year 2024-25 budget....
