BACKGROUND:

The Ocala Police Department (OPD) began utilizing the Priority Dispatch System in 2016, which implements high standards for questions to be asked by call takers. This system was later expanded to include all police, fire, and medical calls for service.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

The Priority Dispatch System is highly consequential for public safety. The Communications Center utilizes this System on every call received, emergency or otherwise. Call takers quickly capture critical information to relay to first responders, ultimately providing safety and security for the public and those responding. Priority Dispatch is commonly utilized throughout the public safety industry. Renewing this contract will maintain all software updates and documentation required to run the Priority Dispatch System.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funding for these purchases was approved as part of the Fiscal Year 2024-25 OPD budget and is budgeted in expenditure account 001-018-811-521-52-52050. This purchase will be tracked by Munis contract number 250421.
