body
BACKGROUND:
The Public Works department has staffing needs for mowing services. Currently, we utilize eleven vendors, all Diverse Small Business Enterprise (DSBE) members, for mowing services for stormwater drainage retention areas (DRAs) in the north section of the city. The mowing is based on a set number of cuts per month for each month of the calendar year. The scheduled mowing ensures an acceptable appearance. The existing three-year agreement was approved by City Council on October 19, 2021, for an expenditure of $790,020.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
Five DRAs have been added in the north section of the city for the new NE 36th Avenue railroad crossing overpass. Three DSBE vendors were awarded mowing for the new DRA locations. The Public Works Stormwater Division does not have the staffing to perform this task in a timely manner. Contracting these services has proven to be cost-effective.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for the remainder of FY22 is available in account 158-023-538-430-53-34010 in the amount of $14,998.39 and will be budgeted for FY23 and FY24 in the amount of $19.088.86 each.
PROCUREMENT REVIEW:
This solicitation has been reviewed and approved for compliance with the City's procurement policy.
LEGAL REVIEW:
The agreement has been reviewed and approved for form and legality by the City Attorney, Robert W. Batsel, Jr.
