BACKGROUND:
The Water Resources Department ("Department") currently operates and maintains approximately 151 lift stations. Due to Ocala's varied topography, it is challenging to have a wastewater collection system that is solely reliant upon gravity. Lift stations (LS) are strategically located to assist in transporting collected wastewater within our system to wastewater treatment facilities.
Sulzer-brand pumps were formally standardized by the Procurement and Contracting Officer on September 21, 2022. Standardizing Sulzer pumps limits the number of tested pumps and brands in our system, enhancing performance, maintenance, and technician familiarity.
On August 14, 2022, the City advertised Sole Source Posting (SSP) No. SSP-211 to verify that Hydra Services, Inc., was the sole distributor for Sulzer wastewater products in the state of Florida. SSP-211 was advertised for a period of 15 business days as required by section 120.57(3), Florida Statutes, and closed on September 7, 2023. There were no objections from any other vendors.

Sulzer pumps are used on special applications where it is not feasible to use Grundfos or Shinmaywa pumps and are currently in operation at the following lift stations: LS 038, LS 064, LS 089, LS 124, LS 146, LS 152, LS 162, LS 164, LS 166, LS 167, LS 168, and LS 170.
Fiscal Year 2026 purchases for the City's Sulzer pump inventory items will be tracked under Munis Contract No. 260296. To ensure readiness for future maintenance and emergency needs, the Department i...
