BACKGROUND:
The Water Resources Department (Department) currently operates and maintains approximately 137 lift stations. With the various changes in elevation throughout the City of Ocala (City), it is challenging to have a collection system that only relies on gravity. Strategically positioned at key locations, lift stations play a crucial role in efficiently transporting collected materials within our system to the wastewater treatment facilities. As part of the standardization established in September 2022, Sulzer pumps are used on special applications where Grundfos or Shinmaywa pumps are not effective. Locations currently equipped with Sulzer Pumps are LS064, LS124, and LS146. A Sulzer 47 HP pump is in inventory for future use at LS089.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
Sulzer pump standardization ensures our system exclusively features a select number of tested pumps/brands, enhancing performance, simplifying maintenance, and promoting technician familiarity.
FISCAL IMPACT:
These pumps are purchased and maintained as part of the City’s inventory and will be accounted for using account 455-141-000-000-41-14100.
PROCUREMENT REVIEW:
The procurement of these goods and services was conducted in compliance with the City’s Procurement Policy.
