BACKGROUND:
The City of Ocala implemented a video-based fleet safety program in 2017, which was fully deployed to all City vehicles, excluding those of the Ocala Police Department. The Lytx Driver Safety Program utilizes dashboard-mounted event recorders that capture 12-second video clips triggered by specific events, including hard braking, speeding, or collisions. Lytx analysts review the footage to identify unsafe driving behaviors (e.g., distracted driving, following too closely, non-use of seatbelts), allowing supervisors to coach and correct unsafe practices proactively.

The latest SF400 event recorder offers enhanced video resolution, dual wide-angle lenses, night vision capability, increased data storage, and integrated machine vision and artificial intelligence (MV+AI) features. The upgraded platform supports several premium safety and compliance features, including fatigue detection, dynamic weather risk scoring, facial recognition driver identification, and consent management tools that enable compliance with emerging privacy regulations.
