BACKGROUND: Mark’s Prime Steakhouse (Ocala Prime Partners Holdings LLC.) has had an active valet license since 2009, with the current ownership taking over in 2022. Since its inception, the operators have only provided valet service to Mark’s Prime Steakhouse customers. As required by Section 22-425, the City Council renews the license annually.
Mark’s Prime Steakhouse utilizes approximately 110 feet along SW Broadway Street west of South Magnolia Avenue for its ramping area (zone for loading and unloading vehicle passengers). Before 5:00 p.m., the area is signed as a loading zone used by multiple businesses.
In 2022, the City Council approved a new location at 11 SW Second Avenue to park the vehicles once they leave the ramping zone. This privately operated parking lot has 18 available parking spaces and is conveniently located near the restaurant. There are no proposed changes to the ownership, hours of operation (daily, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.), the parking lot, or the ramping area on SW Broadway St.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS: The owners of Mark's Prime Steakhouse understand all of the valet requirements, including past concerns about the vehicles being parked in the ramping area longer than what is permissible through Sec. 22-431 of the City of Ocala Municipal Code.
