BACKGROUND:
The City of Ocala utilizes SECO Energy to provide pole lighting services to the Fore Ranch subdivision. SECO Energy is the franchised utility provider for this region.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
Due to SECO’s increasing utility costs, expenditures for electrical pole lighting services in Fiscal Year 2024-25 are projected to exceed the $50,000 threshold and rise to $76,000, which requires approval from the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Fiscal Year 2024-25 funds are budgeted in account number 001-099-999-513-81-43010.
PROCUREMENT REVIEW:
Pursuant to Policy PRO-070, Purchases of services from a utility whose rates are determined and controlled by a public services commission or governmental authority are not subject to competitive procurement requirements.
