BACKGROUND:

Ocala Fiber Network (OFN) currently provides network services to the School Board of Marion County Schools (School Board) under Contract No. TEL/17-141. The existing agreement expires on June 30, 2025.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

The School Board of Marion County issued Request for Proposals (RFP) No. 4104RC for the provision of area-wide fiber services to county schools and administrative locations to include the three new schools. OFN’s written proposal was submitted on October 31, 2024. The School Board's Evaluation Committee scored the City of Ocala as the highest-ranked bidder and notified OFN on November 7, 2024, of their intent to award the contract to the City. The new contract will take effect on July 1, 2025.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The expected gross revenue from the five-year agreement totals $6,960,000 and will be applied to revenue account #490-343-000-000-02-34914. OFN will receive $1,392,000 million with each one-year renewal.
