BACKGROUND:

The Ocala Police IT Department is requesting approval to proceed with the annual renewal of its Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) software with Computer Information Systems, Inc (CIS). The Ocala Police Department has been utilizing CIS’s CAD software since July 2007. The software is responsible for dispatching emergency medical service, fire, and police services to emergency and non-emergency calls. This software is all-inclusive for calls for service, records, evidence management, and interfacing with external entities, and other internal software programs.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

CAD software is vital for the public safety of the City. The renewal of this software is imperative to ensure that the Ocala Police Department has current licensing and support for the CAD software system. This system runs constantly and, as such, requires a high level of support. This renewal will allow the public safety entities to receive updates and stay current with new technologies as the vendor releases them.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funding for these purchases was approved as part of the Fiscal Year 2023-24 police department budget plan and $125,295 is budgeted in the expenditure account 001-018-811-521-52-52050. This purchase will be tracked by Munis contract number OPD/240015.

PROCUREMENT REVIEW:

These goods and services were procured in compliance with the City’s Procurement Policy.
