BACKGROUND:
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is responsible for the administration of Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program. The purpose of the AFG is to enhance the safety of the public and firefighters regarding fire and fire related hazards through financial assistance. Ocala Fire Rescue (OFR) applied for and was awarded an AFG from FEMA for purchasing automatic chest compression devices. The portable devices provide automated chest compressions, which allow providers the ability to focus on other critical needs of patients.
As a condition of the grant the City must contribute non-federal funds of at least 10 percent awarded, or $35,757.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
* OFR was awarded an AFG in the total amount of $357,571 with the City matching of at least 10 percent, or $35,757.
