body
BACKGROUND:
This project consists of upgrading an 18-inch ductile iron force main to 24-inch PVC force main on SW 38th Street. This force main is coming from the master lift station #91 that pumps to Water Reclamation Facility #3. This is the first force main upgrade required for future lift station improvements.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
On November 29, 2021, the City of Ocala issued a bid for Lift Station #91 Force Main Upgrade. Three bids were received on January 14, 2022. Bids were requested and received on a unit price basis as follows:

T&C Underground, Inc. was the low bidder, but was unable to guarantee their pricing due to unknown rising industry costs and requested to respectfully withdraw their bid. Marion Rock, the second low bidder, was able to guarantee and honor their bid pricing making them the low bid. This contractor has completed similar projects in the last five years. Marion Rock, Inc. is a local contractor, and their experience is well documented. Engineering recommends the approval of the contract in the amount $3,032,916 plus a 10% contingency of $303,292 for the City Engineer to approve change orders to the contract for any unforeseen conditions encountered during construction. With contingency, the total project cost is $3,336,208. This project is partially funded by the American Rescue Plan Act Grant Program ($1,250,000).

FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding is available for FY2022 in the following accounts:
308-030-332-536-69-65010 - $2,086,208
