BACKGROUND:
The State-Funded Grant Agreement (SFGA) FPN 435547-3-54-01 addresses the construction of the NW 44th Avenue Extension (Phase 2) Project from State Road 40 to NW 11th Street (0.8 miles), providing a new four-lane roadway with bike lanes and sidewalks on both sides.
Resolution 2023-25 was adopted by City Council on April 18, 2023, for the State-Funded Grant Agreement (SFGA) FPN 435547-3-54-01, accepting grant funds from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in the amount of $8,000,000 for the construction of the NW 44th Avenue Extension (Phase 2) Project. Construction plans and construction, engineering, and inspection (CEI) services for this project were performed by the City's Engineering Department.
Budget Resolution 2023-135 was adopted on April 18, 2023, to appropriate $8,000,000 in grant funds from FDOT. An Agreement with FDOT for FPN 435547-3-54-01 was executed on May 30, 2023.
The project was completed on March 13, 2025, at a total cost of $5,785,270, including in-house CEI costs.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
In accordance with the approved legislative appropriation application, the City has committed 50 percent, or up to $8,000,000, to the project. The total cost of the NW 44th Avenue Extension (Phase 2) Project was $5,785,270; FDOT's participation amount was $2,892,635 (50 percent), and the City's match was $2,892,635 (50 percent). The City was reimbursed by FDOT for its participation share in the amount of $2,892,635 for the NW 44th Avenue Extension (Phase 2) Project.
