BACKGROUND:
The Marion County Builders' Association will hold a fundraiser ("King of the Wing") at Citizen Circle on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, from 5 to 8 p.m. that will benefit the Advocacy Resource Center Marion, Inc. The event will include food vendors on SE Osceola Ave and E Fort King St. The Marion County Builders' Association will apply for a permit with the state to have beer and wine on SE Osceola Ave and E Fort King St.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
Section 6-7(b) of the Code of Ordinances, City of Ocala, Florida, provides an exception to allow for possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages on streets, sidewalks, and public parking facilities for special events.
Section 6-7(b) states that such special events must be recognized and approved by resolution of City Council at a public hearing.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Marion County Builders' Association is working with other City departments (Recreation, Public Works, and Engineering) concerning street closures and the Ocala Police Department concerning security during the event.
