BACKGROUND:
The Ocala Airport's existing T-hangar campus is at capacity and unable to accommodate the 40+ people on its waiting list. The Airport proposes to extend a road from near the intersection of SW 67th Ave and SR 40 through the northern section of the Airport to provide access to Taxiway B (TWY-B) and ultimately Runway 08/26, the crosswind runway. This road will provide development opportunities to include T-hangars, private hangars, and other aviation and non-aviation businesses.
The project has been designed and is currently out to bid.
This supplemental grant will augment the existing grant funding for the design and construction of approximately 3,100 feet of road and associated utilities.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
* The project is consistent with the Airport Master Plan and Airport Layout Plan.
* Twenty-three percent ($459,982) of Airport revenue is derived from the Airport T-hangar campus.
* At its April 23, 2024, meeting, the Airport Advisory Board reviewed and recommended approval of this grant.
