BACKGROUND:
The Florida Legislature passed the Sadowski Act in 1991, creating a trust fund to finance state and local affordable housing initiatives managed by the Florida Housing Finance Corporation. The State Housing Initiatives Program (SHIP) grant is funded through this act and distributed to counties and qualifying municipalities in the state of Florida.
FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:
The Florida Statutes require the submission of an annual report for entities that accept funds for the SHIP program. The plan is submitted annually to report data on the usage of funds that have been significantly expended within the two-year close-out period, to provide performance measure reports, and to meet the data requests of the Florida State Legislature. The City of Ocala is submitting its closeout report for the 2022-2023 funding cycle. The City received $616,629 in SHIP funding for the 2022-2023 funding cycle.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Annual reporting is required to continue to receive SHIP funding.
