OCALA’S RELEVANT STRATEGIC GOALS:

Operational Excellence

body

BACKGROUND:

The Ocala Police Department (OPD) has been utilizing Computer Information Systems (CIS) software since July 2007. The software dispatches police, fire, and emergency medical services to emergency and non-emergency calls. This software also manages records and evidence, interfaces with external entities, and supports other internal software programs.

FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS:

The Ocala Police Information Technology Department requests approval to renew its CIS software, which is used across all areas of the agency. The system runs 24/7 and, as such, requires a high level of support. Without this CIS software, OPD would not be able to dispatch police or fire units, manage records, issue citations, or perform many other agency functions. Renewing the CIS software will allow public safety entities to receive system updates and stay current with new technologies. This renewal includes an overhaul and update of all interfaces with external vendors and partners, along with the core CIS software suite.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funding for this software renewal was approved as part of the Fiscal Year 2026-27 Police Department Budget Plan, and $172,944 is available in the expenditure account 001-018-811-521-52-52045. This purchase will be tracked under Munis contract number 261103.

The previous one-year contract was approved on November 4, 2025, with a total expenditure of $203,844.
